Opera Director

Opera director

I began directing for Heritage Opera - the Northwest's professional touring opera company in 2008, and became Artistic Director of the company in 2011. I have directed and designed over 20 productions for Heritage Opera.
I have been directing for Midland Opera - a Birmingham-based pro/am company - since 2012, and I have directed 6 large-scale shows for them at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham.
I took over the directing reigns at Focus Opera (a professional chamber opera company based in London), after the sad loss of my friend and colleague, Keith Cheetham, who founded the company with its musical director, Ben Ellin, in 2009. In 2015 I directed Die Fledermaus and La Traviata at Chiswick House, in two sell-out performances.
I will direct the premiere of Alan Williams and Ian McMillan's new opera, The Arsonists, in November 2017, and will direct the first professional revival of Sir Arthur Sullivan's Haddon Hall for the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Summer 2018.
